Switching foods is where things can go sideways. Tell us where you're starting and where you're going, and we'll help build the plan.
We'll use this to scale the transition to your dog's actual calorie needs.
Slower transitions are better for dogs with sensitive stomachs, puppies, or any dog that's had GI trouble switching foods before.
We need this so we can calculate exact amounts for each stage of the transition.
We need this to convert kibble accurately. Kibble varies a lot, anywhere from 90g to 150g per cup depending on size and shape. Three ways to find it:
Pick a Fairbowl recipe, or enter another food manually.
Don't panic. This is common during food transitions, especially in the first few days. Slow down and stay at the current stage until stool firms up before moving to the next stage.
Psyllium husk powder: Add per day, mixed into food. This helps bulk up stool.
Probiotic: A daily probiotic can support gut health during the transition.
If diarrhea persists for more than 48 hours, contact your veterinarian.
This is an educational tool to help guide food transitions. It does not replace veterinary care.
